Karen was employed by the Wausau Department of Social Services for eight years before taking the same job in Rhinelander where she spent most of her career. Just a few years prior to her retirement Karen worked in the Social Security Administration office.
Karen was very active in her lifetime and enjoyed many activities with her many friends including, skiing (both downhill and cross-country), golfing (at the Rhinelander Country Club), figure skating, and tennis. Her favorite opponent in tennis was Helen Onson who was one of Rhinelander's great tennis and basketball players. Karen was a huge fan of both the Badger basketball team and the Green Bay Packers, she would never miss a game on TV.
Karen was caring, compassionate and had a great sense of humor. She always loved to spend time with her friends, especially for an occasional steak dinner where there was plenty of reminiscing and sharing of her many stories. Karen will be dearly missed by all of her friends.
Karen is survived by her cousin Virginia Burr of Waukesha and family, her lifelong beloved friends Joan Frazier and Kathy Wege, dear friends Wayne Miller, Jane Smithback, other cousins, family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service for Karen will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Northland Memorial Park Cemetery at noon.
