Denise grew up in DeForest. As a child, she cherished the many trips to visit her beloved grandmother, Beryl Stafford, in Rhinelander. As a student at DeForest High School, Denise excelled at playing the flute for the school band. Perhaps her fondest memory involved playing at Camp Randall Stadium on High School Band Day. Denise was involved in sports that included playing for the girls' softball team. Following high school, Denise pursued a brief career in cosmetology after attaining a degree from Capri Cosmetology College in Madison. She expanded her academic horizons by earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Denise ultimately used her academic experience to excel in a marketing career. She was a gifted amateur photographer and devoted herself to many endeavors including yoga, biking, hiking, swimming, ice skating, and gardening.
