Firefighters from Fire District Alpha (Pelican Lake, Elcho and Monico) battled not only a fully engulfed garage fire Monday afternoon on Pelican Lake's Chicago Point Road, but the heat and humidity as well. Firefighters were summoned to the scene at about 1:30 p.m. to find the garage, containing a car and a pontoon boat among other items, ablaze. After containing the blaze to just that structure and saving a couple of other buildings, crews were on the scene for almost three hours putting out hot spots in the debris.
